Dr Anna Valero previously sat on the Chancellor's economic advisory council and she will discuss how investment in innovation is key to addressing low productivity which can contribute to Scotland's wellbeing economy.

During National Productivity Week, Dr Anna Valero will join us to discuss how investment in innovation and its diffusion is key to addressing low productivity. Dr Valero was previously a member of the Chancellor’s economic advisory council and she will highlight the types of policies that can improve the investment ecosystem to achieve sustainable and inclusive growth.

Improving productivity is instrumental to achieving a wellbeing economy for Scotland. It helps Scotland’s economy and communities through the creation of higher paying and better quality jobs, higher tax revenues and contributing to thriving communities.

Dr Anna Valero is a Distinguished Policy Fellow at the LSE’s Centre for Economic Performance (CEP), Deputy Director of the Programme on Innovation and Diffusion (POID) and an Associate of the Grantham Research Institute at the LSE. Her research is focused on the drivers of productivity and innovation (from invention through to the adoption of new technologies) in firms and regions.
