Climate Smarter

Climate Smarter – Introduction on Biteable.

Climate Smarter is an exciting topical project for P5-S2 pupils. This project is designed to enthuse and inspire pupils to think creatively to come up with solutions to the biggest global problems to face them, now, and in the future. The project takes them on a journey of investigation and experimentation to look at how we can tackle the climate emergency.

The ‘Climate Smarter’ project challenges schools to design and model a sustainable smart eco school of the future. Schools are provided with a STEM resource kit to take part in over 20 hands-on activities as part of the project, exploring topics such as renewable energy sources, water usage, sustainable timber, programming and coding. As well as providing a free kit to schools, the programme also delivers high-quality Continuing Professional Development (CPD) teacher training to enhance their confidence and update their subject knowledge.

The programme culminates in the pupils designing and building models of their future school, incorporating all their research into energy efficiency, smart controls, electricity generation, responsible water and sustainable building material use. We are also asking schools to build a model floating wind turbine as part of the challenge.  They will then be asked to showcase these models at one of our celebration of STEM events.
