Joanna Boag-Thomson elected Chair of the SCDI Board
SCDI announces the appointment of Joanna Boag-Thomson to succeed Ian wall as Chair of the Board, as agreed at the Annual General Meeting of the organisation on the 1st September.
Joanna is a partner at Shepherd and Wedderburn’s media and technology practice. At SCDI her role will be to support its core aim of social improvement through sustainable and inclusive economic growth in Scotland and to allow them to continue to inform and inspire public policy with the experience and expertise of its diverse membership.
SCDI CEO Sara Thiam commented:
“In taking on the Chair of SCDI in our 90th year Joanna joins a long line of distinguished business leaders, who recognise that a prosperous economy that works for all requires public, private and third sector to unite behind a shared vision and goals for Scotland. She takes the helm at pivotal time for the Scottish economy, when difficult decisions about the country we want to be need to be made.
The parallels between today and the great depression of 1930s, the Scottish Development Council was set up to address are striking. Joanna brings a fantastic understanding of the strengths on which Scotland needs to build to continue to play a role in the global economy and solid experience of corporate and civic Scotland. We’re delighted she has taken on the role at a time when a shared platform for action has never been more important.”
Andrew Richie, External Relations Manager: Brent Decommissioning and UK Upstream at Shell, was elected to Vice Chair.
In recognition of his outstanding commitment to the organisation, during what has been a most challenging period encompassing both a global pandemic and the UK’s departure from the European Union, departing Chair Ian Wall was awarded Fellowship of SCDI and was warmly thanked by the Board and the Senior Management Team at SCDI for his service.
