This blog was written by Mike Gaskill of OGUK. OGUK are a strategic partner at SCDI Forum 2020.
OGUK is member led and so are our priorities. Spread across the Highlands and Islands of Scotland to the South West of England, this changing and exciting industry is committed to providing sustainable energy and products.
We’re playing our part by reducing our emissions and using our essential expertise to deliver the new industries of hydrogen and carbon capture and storage. This will bring new opportunities to our people, companies and energy communities.
With ‘Roadmap 2035 a blueprint for Net Zero’ we were the first sector in the UK to set out our plan to adapt and thrive.
The Committee on Climate Change predicts that by 2050, oil and gas will still provide 50% of the UK’s primary energy needs. Our industry reduces reliance on imported fuels and products, which do not pay tax, or support jobs.
The SCDI Forum is a great opportunity to remind people that it’s our world class supply chain that is supporting the expansion of offshore renewables and the same supply chain that will be needed to deliver on carbon capture and storage and hydrogen technologies.
