Submission on Tertiary Education and Training (Funding and Governance) (Scotland) Bill
Our submission to the Scottish Parliament’s Education, Children and Young People Committee calls for a simpler apprenticeship funding system, supported by regular, meaningful engagement between the SFC and users — including employers and industry.
We welcome plans to establish an Apprenticeship Committee, but also recommend a Board skills audit and stronger representation from business, industry, learners, and the college sector, in line with any expanded duties.
These steps will help the SFC to better understand and develop work-based learning that best meets the needs of the labour market and the skills requirements to boost Scotland’s economic prosperity.
