Prosper Proposal: 2025-26 Programme for Government
Prosper has called for policies which drive investment, job creation, and sustainable growth to be the focus of the Scottish Government’s upcoming Programme for Government.
Prosper welcomes the First Minister’s focus on building a resilient, expanding economy and commitment to collaborate with the UK Government. Scotland is critical to the success of the UK industrial and infrastructure strategies but greater involvement in their design is essential if Scotland’s potential is to be fully realised. Aligning efforts on skills and greater urgency in the delivery of skills reform is also needed to safeguard the once in a generation opportunity represented by energy transition.
With worldwide competition for trade and investment intensifying, Scotland must remain agile and attractive. Lack of certainty caused by energy market reforms, differential tax policy, and skills funding risk deterring investment. Therefore, our members ask, more than ever, that the Scottish Government remains focused on creating a stable and welcoming policy, tax and operating environment with no surprises for hard-pressed businesses
