Prosper Responds – The King’s Speech

Responding to The King’s Speech at the State Opening of Parliament, Prosper Chief Executive Sara Thiam said:

“The UK Government has the opportunity to create the right conditions for every part of the UK to achieve its potential for growth which benefits people and planet. Scotland’s role is fundamental to that and to the Clean Growth Mission. It’s vital that the government follows through on its pledge to ensure Scotland’s industries and places shape the development and implementation of these plans. We look forward to details of the proposed devolved nations council and how that might support this ambition.

“Our manifesto Growing for Good called for the UK government to invest in a credible energy security and climate plan which will meet people’s needs and achieve net-zero targets. A seat at the table reflects the pivotal role Scotland plays in achieving a UK energy transition and we look forward to working with the UK Government to ensure GB Energy fulfils those priorities.

Ms Thiam added:

“The plans for a National Wealth Fund for infrastructure and the opportunity to address regional disparities will help the UK achieve its full growth potential.

Along with our members we are ready to work with the UK and Scottish Governments to build a strong economy, based on our long-term vision for Scotland and our values of purpose, innovation and collaboration.”
