Building a strong future for the Highlands and Islands

Today, our work across the Highlands and Islands is playing a vital role in the UK’s most significant infrastructure transformations.

As the Highlands and Islands become increasingly important to the nation’s transition to net zero, we are helping to strengthen energy security through the delivery of critical electricity transmission infrastructure.

From connecting communities and renewable energy generation across the region to the mainland electricity network, to delivering major substations and transmission infrastructure, we are helping unlock renewable energy at scale – enabling clean power generated in the north to reach homes and businesses across the UK.

But our work extends far beyond engineering. We are committed to ensuring these investments create lasting social and economic value for the Highlands and Islands. By supporting regional supply chains, creating employment opportunities, investing in skills and apprenticeships, and working closely with local partners, we are helping communities benefit directly from the opportunities created by the energy transition.

Delivering major projects in some of the UK’s most remote locations requires collaboration, innovation and a deep understanding of local needs. That is why we work closely with communities, businesses and stakeholders to minimise impacts, maximise opportunities and leave a positive legacy long after construction is complete.

Our commitment to the region is long-term. The recent opening of our Inverness office provides a dedicated base from which we can strengthen local relationships, support regional growth and continue delivering for communities across the Highlands and Islands.
