Join us for an insightful session where we will hear from a business and an academic on how to build a thriving company culture.

At the event you will hear from Bruce Skinner, Chief Executive of ALTO about the steps he took to foster a positive and productive culture for his team. You will also hear from Dr Susan Reid Elder, Lecturer on People, Organisations and Practice, RGU who will share some of the findings from her PhD as well as the most recent research findings about creating a positive working culture while dealing with 21st century challenges such as remote working.

This will be an interactive session with the chance to network, ask questions and learn from peers.

Bruce Skinner is Founder OF ALTO Managed It and Cyber security services. Bruce has been in business services in Aberdeen for over 30 years, specifically IT for the last 14 years. ALTO was rebooted in 2020 during the pandemic with 6 staff. It has grown to 11, with the development of core values and culture being part of it. ALTO’s customer-centred approach moves the conversation away from fixing technical problems to addressing the underlying processes and management issues that hinder businesses’ day-to-day productivity and growth.

Susan has over 20 years’ experience working in various HR roles in a range of sectors including energy. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Susan left her role as HR Manager at the Net Zero Technology Centre to finish her PhD on a full time basis. Her research explores the factors required for people to flourish at work. Since completing the research project in 2022, Susan has been working as a lecturer and researcher at Aberdeen Business School.
