I’d like to use this edition of the SCDI blog to take you back. For many of you – you are well established in working internationally and exporting- you have done the hard work of entering a new market then took on the next challenge of remaining relevant to your stakeholders. You may then have considered how to step into a similar country or perhaps took the plunge to work in a different language and embrace a complete change of geography yet still be within the same region. At that very general level; it highlights that there is a huge amount to do when cracking a new customer. What do you do if you haven’t worked in Latin America and the Caribbean (LATAC) before? Where do you start?

You’re in luck – Department for International Trade (DIT) LATAC’s flagship event- the DIT LATAC Roadshow 2022 will take place in-person, starting in Glasgow on 14th March 2022 supported by the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce. It has a growing middle class and are categorised as expanding economie: this region offers many opportunities in a variety of sectors for Scottish companies.

For this year the Roadshow will have a dedicated focus on specialist sectors. There will be the opportunity to book 1-2-1 meetings with experts to kick start your next step in LATAC. There’ll be representatives from the English Speaking Caribbean; Central America and the Spanish Speaking Caribbean, the Southern Cone and the DIT LATAC Enquiry Hub to ensure that all aspects of LATAC are fully represented.

Perhaps it’s not the right moment for you to meet face-to-face yet. Fear not – there is an option on the registration page to select an online meeting. This will take place in the month following the Roadshow; with meeting details being sent after the in-person event has taken place.

If luring you away from a screen is not enough of a temptation- further reasons to come and see the DIT LATAC team en carne y hueso (aside from refreshments) are… attendance is free, there’ll be speakers sharing their success stories of operating in LATAC, VIPs in attendance and panel discussions from DIT experts to share insights about your sector in our markets. All of which are only available to those that can join us on the day. Places are limited and 1-2-1 meetings will be assigned on a first-come first-served basis so don’t delay.

We look forward to seeing you there.
